Here we are the beginning of the first day of paint removal. The following pics document our starting point.
The car had been painted a dark green and had (I believe) a tan interior.
It had been repainted twice from it's original paint.
Once in dark green the second time in red. My seller had alluded to the Christmas potential the car had.
Two hours later & we're at bare metal on the left rear quarter....
The rotisserie is great for positioning the body in positions that make the car more comfortable to work on. Well worth the time and effort!!
You'll notice I added a second come-a-long on the right side of the rotisserie. This gives me much more control of the body when adjusting position.
Found some rust around the torsion bar access cover. This will have to be cut out and replaced.
The rear apron was next to be cleaned up.
Here's the complete rear section of the body with all of its original paint removed. Notice the custom redneck umbrella. It was a very sunny day and the bare metal acted like a mirror.
Continued on to the right rear quarter panel. The rear lower section of the fender will be replaced with new sheet metal to match the left side.
Moving to the front of the car, begin to strip the right front fender and nose.
So much for today, time to clean up for tomorrow.
