The beginning...

This project started as a motorcycle/sidecar project. The "goal" was to create a cool vehicle to take our grand kids on ice cream rides.

After some research I found that motorcycles w/ sidecars have some inherent stability & braking challenges..in short they handle differently than a 2 wheeled motorcycle. I then looked at trikes, then VW trikes...and then considered a convertable.

I'd had a 1962 VW Karmann Ghia convertible as a daily driver in high school and my wife (then girl friend) had fond memories of... (read = bump starting it when the battery was dead...)

I'd been watching the web for a suitable Ghia in good condition & reasonably priced. Just before Christmas I found a 1972 Ghia Convertible in Florida, bid on it & won.












and so the project begins......
